Its that time again ! Time to update your family portraits! This can be a fun adventure with a great outcome. or a dreaded event, that spoils the family portraits, now and forever! After being hired to shoot hundereds of family portraits, I feel I have almost "seen in all". I love my own family portraits and value them highly! So, I want others to value their own family portraits and look back on these sessions with pure delight. Here are a few suggestions, based on my years of experience.

1. If you have a husband or older sons, do not tell them about your exciting family shoot until right before you go to your session. If you can help it. Give them the heads up that your family is having a family time coming up and you want them to look nice. If you give men or boys too early they will dread it the entire time and find any and all ways possible to deter you, mostly they wont be motivated to give even the slightest smile or relaxed looks.

2 . DON'T STRESS... If you have hired a professional photographer and one with a great personality, they can give you great suggestions for clothes locations & poses etc. If you allow yourself to stress, you wont enjoy the session or the portraits.

3. Allow plenty of time to get ready and arrive at the location. Plan your clothing etc at least a day prior to the session.

4. Be positive and calm the entire time.

5. If you have on of those children who repeatedly cries all the way to the photographer, don't encourage him or her to act this way. Don't let the child hear you tell anyone even the photographer "Oh my son hates pictures, he never will" If you do so, it will most definately set this child and you up for another horrible experience. I promise, I have never had a child cry and refuse to take a picture with me ever again, A wonderful photographer, will allow time to sit with the family and get any child to relax and find out what makes them tick.

6. If money is the issue, then dont worry who you choose get the cheapest. However if money is part issue and wonderful portraits is what you want, research photographers, at least until you have found a professional who is fun and wont treat you and your family like a number and ruch you through.

7. HAVE FUN! BE HAPPY! You will own these fo year to come, hopefully, if the portrait is taken by a good storytelling photographer, your portraits will look candid and natural. Your family will look older, but the portrait is captured like ART!

December 1, 2010. PHOTOGRAPHY SOOTHES MY SOUL.. PHOTOGRAPHS ARE WHAT WE HOLD AS ONE OF OUR GREATEST POSSESSIONS!

I have had a wonderful opportunity to photograph some of the most beautiful babies in the world. As I prepare for each and every photoshoot, I am so filled with passion and excitement. I take each and every single assignment very seriously because I know that time passes quickly and photographs are worth more than we can put an amount on. I was watching a movie the other day. In the movie...the woman was asked..If there was a fire in your home and you had 60 seconds to grab a few things, what would she grab. Well, I thought about it, but didnt have to think long. Obviously my family and my precious wonderful animals. However, if there was only time for a few other things other than that, I would grab my photographs, photo albums and my camera!

Insurance can replace worldly goods...not your most precious memories captured into beautiful photos.

I know servicemen serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world must look forward to every email, letter, package they receive. However, I would bet the photographs they receive mean more than the world to them. I have had the pleasure of taking maternity photos, newborn photos, 1st year photos, family photos, MOM and ME photos of those families whose Daddys, husbands, uncles, grandpas who are serving our fine country. What a beautiful day in Colorado Springs,Colorado. I am so grateful for my recnt move to this incredible state. It is a blessing to wake up every day and LOVE where you live. I wake up and see the beautiful view of Pikes Peak, Colorado. What an amazing site. We recently took the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak. If you are planning trip or vacation to Colorado Springs, Colorado- or the Denver, Colorado area...the Cog Railway trip is a MUST! I recently was hired to do a family portrait session...we went to Garden of the Gods, located in the Colorado Springs, Co area. The Stanton family of 8 hired me to capture their family. It was so much fun. First of all, i photographed them in CASUAL clothes, no shoes no socks- au naturel! The oldest child was 13 the youngest 6 weeks. I love candid family photography! We took so many pictures, I dont like to limit my sessions to posed photography. as life imitates art! Life IS ART! that is my philosophy. They all have passion for tai kwon do...so after the casual photography- they changed into their tai kwon do robes etc. It is so much fun when the family asks me to capture their family and make it unique! Hey everyone:) SO seize the day CARPE DIEM. Ive been really focusing on keeping the positive things in my live and not freaking out over the negative things. It really DOES make a differance. Anyways, so I know I said Sassy Suntan is the BOMB, well it is, but, I have now found my true tanning love!! Tan Your Hide is my new all time favorite place to go. It is SUCH a professional tanning salon where the staff is amazing. And most importantly the beds are clean, the bulbs are new, and its a relaxing place to go and forget about your troubles for 20 minutes of your day!
I would just like to mention how much I love all of my sisters and I am so glad I live 1 thousand miles closer to all of them:) I hope everyone has a GREAT Easter:)

It is true, as the saying goes" life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away". Every moment spent in Colorado just takes my breath away! Today I weant out marketing and it seemed like every person I met was excited about life. Today I went to my favorite place Sassy Suntan and Oxygen Bar. OMG having 15 minutes of oxygen does the body good! Everybody should try her oxygen mixed with aromatherapy, and the bonus is the positive feeling just being around the incredible owner and staff. Heather, owner, and new BFF, can turn anyone's mood to SUPAH!!( as they say in NYC!)
